About Us

Ground Control was started by Sean and Tara Rassas in 2007. Ground Control was founded in Goodyear, AZ with a passion for fine wine, locally-roasted coffee, delicious food, and world class craft beer (#NoCrapOnTap)! In 2012, Ground Control moved to Litchfield Park to expand their kitchen – bringing wood-fired pizzas with it  – and expanding the draft beer selection from 6 taps to a rotating 27 taps.

Also in 2012, they brought in Ian Harwell, a long-time friend and customer, to be their Beer Guy. He quickly became the face of the Ground Control brand and developed Ground Control as a locally and nationally recognized craft beer bar.

Fast forward to 2019, after 12 years of building Ground Control as a respected bar, restaurant, and coffee roaster brand, Sean and Tara were ready to pass the torch of ownership to Ian and his wife Stephanie.

Ian and Stephanie will continue to strive to become the West Valley destination for craft food and craft drinks. They are passionate about food, community, and supporting fellow local, small businesses. 

Whether you are coming in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, stopping in to pick up a beer, wine, or coffee to go, or simply visiting just to study for a couple of hours – our goal is to make you feel comfortable and welcome!
